As photographers, we spend a lot of time reviewing and editing photos at our desk. We’re so busy that we just put up with our back crinkling as we hunch down in our chair. The FlexiSpot C5 Ergonomic Office Chair can change that without breaking the bank.
FlexiSpot sent me a chair to review, and I was immediately impressed with the build quality. As you assemble the chair, which is relatively easy to do by yourself with a little patience, you notice the construction details that make this chair appear quite sturdy and refined.

FlexiSpot C5 Ergonomic Office Chair – Ergonomics and build quality
When you first sit in the chair, you realize you are well-supported. The chair is built to hold up to 300lbs and provides a 20-degree range of recline (95-115 degrees) with two locking positions. Importantly, the sturdy chair legs feature wheels that roll extremely well and feature 360-degree movement.
As you lean back to get comfortable, you encounter the free-rotating headrest. This allows for variable height adjustment and also can lean back thanks to a 45-degree adjustment. The armrests provide further comfort.
The armrests provide further comfort. My model (gray) had fully adjustable armrests, which besides going up and down, allow forward/backward adjustment as well as the ability to angle them. Other models just have the up/down capability. The fully adjustable feature is excellent as you position your chair up to your desk ledge. Notably, the arms have no shake to them.
The C5 comes with a foam/elastic sponge seat cushion. The seat is comfortable, and doesn’t seem to hold decompression once you get up (although I’ve not had the chair too long). If mesh seats are your preference, you may consider the C7 version (which offers additional features). The seat dimensions are roomy, accommodating a variety of sitting positions.
The ergonomic design of this chair is sure to help your posture. The adjustable lumbar support seems effective. I do not feel pressure, pain, or fatigue compared to other office chairs I have used. Instead, I feel strain relief. Back soreness has been a problem with many desk chairs in my life, but so far I feel alright in the C5.
