Saramonic, a global leader in professional audio equipment, has just released a next-gen, duplex wireless intercom headset system. I was sent their new WiTalk9 Series for review, and I could see it being an economical, functional, and dependable solution for film crews, live A/V events, emergency response, and more. This system has impressive features, so let’s dive into the review.
Saramonic WiTalk9 Headset System — Range and clarity
The WiTalk9 Series has dual antennas that can range up to 500 meters. Not only is this a sufficiently long distance for most use cases, but the antennas also help prevent other radio signal interference.
Saramonic has developed ClearTalk™ technology. This is essentially an array of three microphones with a noise cancellation algorithm. Therefore, this system can filter out background noise, including wind noise, to a high degree of accuracy. It seemed to be effective during my tests, as I could not hear background noise that I knew was going on where the other person was communicating from. Conversations were very clear, as to be expected with professional equipment.
High volume situations are also a non-issue with this system, as clear communication is maintained in situations with SPL as high as 130dB.
Saramonic WiTalk9 Headset System — Extreme comfort
The intelligent design of the headset is comfortable, lightweight, and balanced. I really enjoyed the ear cushions, which had a cooling gel feel. They insulated my ear from outside noises and seemed to reduce the sweat that can sometimes build in production environments. The headband was extremely comfortable thanks to its lambskin wrap.
In short, the headset looks great, feels great, and seems quite durable. You can wear them for a long time without discomfort or cutting into your skin.
Saramonic WiTalk9 Headset System — Access awesome functions with one hand
If you do need to control the headset, you never need two hands. You can simply raise the boom to mute, and lower back to talk. An indicator on the mic changes color to signal this. Also on the mic is the ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) button, which offers weak and strong options.
The earpiece houses a power and mute button, as well as a volume control knob. Pressing the volume control knob enables the Announce function on the master headset. This mutes all paired headsets with changes mic indicator color so your entire team can hear master commands.
With all features, voice prompts give feedback on any selections made.
Saramonic WiTalk9 Headset System — Other features
There are even more great attributes with the WiTalk9 system. Working in the rain? No problem. The headsets have IPX5 rating.
Need a system that grows with you? This is it. Support full-duplex multi-person communication without a hub, along with the ability to connect up to 9 units directly for a simple wireless setup. With wired cascading, you can support 30 units.
The system is available as a package that includes a beautiful carrying case, ear cushions, numbering stickers, low-profile multi-slot battery charger/cables, and more.
Be sure to access the Saramonic app for increased functionality, such as Adaptive Frequency Hopping.
